Leaving a gift in your will

LINC is celebrating its 10th year of helping people affected by blood cancers. We rely on the generosity of the general public to fund our services. Gifts in Wills make up an important part of our income – we simply couldn't do what we do without them.

Leaving a gift in your Will to LINC, however large or small, will help us to continue our cancer support services to people affected by blood cancer in the future.

You can make a difference so someone in their hour of need. Remember the people you care about by supporting their future.

Guide to making a Will

Making a first Will can be a difficult decision. When you decide to make a Will you can be sure that everyone you care about, including the causes that matter the most to you, will be looked after. We would always recommend using a qualified solicitor when making or changing a Will.

Why make a Will?

Making a Will will ensure that your family and friends, and the causes close to your heart, receive what you think and hope that they should receive from your estate.

Although parts of your estate may go to your family if you have not made a Will, these may not be the family members you expect or in the amount you would wish. Your family may also end up paying Inheritance Tax, which is currently charged at 40%.

Can I make a Will myself?

Homemade Wills, including the 'over-the-counter' templates available in many shops, can lead to very expensive problems that sometimes cannot be rectified. Important details can be left out, or the will could be invalid or lead to unexpected tax bills, for example. Dealing with these issues may demand professional advice and can cause a lot of distress for those involved. We would therefore always recommend obtaining the advice of a solicitor.

Including LINC in your will

To bequeath a legacy to LINC you simply state the amount you would like to leave - this may be a defined amount or a percentage of your assets - and state the name of charity which is The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC) registered charity number 1078183. It couldn't be easier.

What will it cost?

This will depend upon how complex your affairs and your wishes are, but may not be as expensive as you think. You can always request estimates from solicitors at no commitment.
