Claire Charlton

What is your role within LINC?
I am the Community Fundraiser for LINC based in the LINC outpatient Department at
Cheltenham General Hospital. My role within the LINC team is diverse from meeting people in the community, organising fundraising events, making grant applications and maintaining the social media pages.

How long have you worked at LINC?
I have worked at LINC for twelve months although I have a close association with the charity for 17 years, supporting and attending LINC fundraisers and completing several sporting challenges including the London 10k for LINC.

Why do you work for LINC?
When you meet the patients and families that have supported by LINC and hear the stories of their illnesses and subsequent treatment, it becomes a mission to raise money to ensure the continuation of the charity.

Highlights of the Job
Working at LINC is a varied and worthwhile job. One minute you might be delivering a talk about the charity or collecting a donation cheque, the next you might be dressed as a fairy running around the park. Making a difference in any small way to help people who need support in their toughest times is a highlight of the job.

What is your role within LINC?
I am the Gloucester Office Co-ordinator based in the Edward Jenner Unit of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

My role is to provide admin support to the LINC team based in Cheltenham; to play an integral role in the organising and delivering of fundraising events; to raise the profile of the charity in Gloucester and surrounding areas by going out into the community; to support external fundraisers with sponsorship and fundraising and lastly to be a point of contact for patients who visit the Edward Jenner Unit and also for the staff who work there.

How long have you worked at LINC?
I have been with LINC for four years and three months.

Why do you work for LINC?
I have always ‘done my bit’ for charity by arranging fundraising events for big national charities. Working for LINC has given me the opportunity to see first-hand how we can help and support patients that are being cared for in our local hospitals.

Highlights of the Job
I am very much a people person so primarily for me it’s meeting patients that we have been able to help.

Having contact with the nursing staff to help support the needs of their dept and liaising with the Cheltenham office to fulfil these needs.

Also I am renowned for my organisational skills and my knowledge of spreadsheets and mail merges.
